It’s kind of odd that the US doesn’t change the artwork on our bills. We go through a slight bill revision every decade or so, but the same faces and such just get redrawn. Our money is kind of... ugly.

I like the classic... Imagine England did away with Queen on the money and slapped Boris Johnson or some other yahoo on the money?

We have so many other national symbols in the US than the Presidents. I can understand the argument for keeping Washington or Lincoln on the bills since they’re the most notable Presidents, but the others aren’t as notable. Important historical figures, sure, but they’re for the most part breezed over in school curriculum. Why not have drawings of other stuff, like National Parks or o ther important non-Presidential (Franklin wasn’t even a president) historical figures ?

I mean the UK does put other people on the reverse side of the bills. No BoJo, but the Bank of England’s £5 bill has Churchill for example .

I agree with those who think the trail of tears should drag him down, and there are other parts of his legacy that look less good from here, but they didn’t but him on the $20 because he was some random president.

Yeah , he was a great leader, if we ignore that whole genocide thing.

We interpret the past through the lens of the present. Why should we laud someone who factually did something horrendous in the past?

All of our bills look pretty much the same from more than a few feet away. If you’re even remotely sight-impaired, like 75% of American adults, color coded bills make much more sense. Monopoly money is color coded because it makes it easier to use.

We shouldn’t, I’m all for getting Jackson out. Just saying Jackson is (or was until recently) a notable president not that far off from Washington and Lincoln in the common estimation. Perfectly happy to have Harriet Tubman on the bill. And that statue in front of the White House should go to the N ational G allery or the National Museum of American History or something (it is artistically notable).
